If you're an author or a publisher, and would like your book reviewed by In Bob We Trust, keep on reading. I'm willing to review books upon request, if certain instructions are followed. In order to have your book reviewed, please send a copy of your book to: Robert Lewis Please also include any additional information that might be interesting. For example, if the book (whether it's fiction or non-fiction) is based on some personal story, tell me about that. If the story is about a graverobber, and the author happens to be (or have been) a graverobber, mention that. If you're the publisher, that's all you need to do. If you're the author, I'd also like to request that you sign the book for me (please make it out to Robert). Since I'm not making money on this website (right now my costs greatly exceed any money I might get from it), I'd like to build up my book collection as much as possible. Important notes: I don't guarantee anything. If you send me a book to review, I appreciate that and will make an effort to read and review it, but I don't guarantee it. Not all books sent to me for review will necessarily receive a review. Also, the book won't be returned to you. Only send copies if you don't expect to get them back. I accept books in any format. I prefer the final, published edition, but I'm more than happy to accept ARCs. The only thing I won't accept is an unbound edition. It's just too hard for me to keep track of all the loose papers. If your review copy is just loose printer pages, find a way to bind them together before you send them. If your book is a limited edition, I understand that you don't want to give copies away, so "PC" copies are fine. Again, I prefer the actual limited edition, but I won't refuse anything except an unbound copy. Audiobooks are okay, but they're less likely to receive a review. I usually only listen to audiobooks when I'm driving a long distance, and I don't do so very often. So for an audiobook to get a review, I need to be in the right sort of mood. Likewise, digital copies are okay, but like audiobooks, they're less likely to be reviewed than hard copies. If you simply can't send a hard copy, the digital one can be sent here. I don't care when it was published. I'll review old books or new books. You need to pay all shipping expenses yourself (that should be self-evident, but I felt like saying so anyway). Another thing that should be self-evident, but needs to be said anyway: Don't send me unpublished manuscripts. I don't provide editorial services, and due to legal concerns, if your book hasn't been picked up by a publisher, it will go unread. And the last thing is: be prepared for a negative review. I try my damnedest to like everything I read. I really do. But I don't always, and I won't give a positive review just because you were kind enough to send me a copy of the book. You may receive a positive review, a negative review, or no review. No guarantees. Special note for non-fiction writers: I love non-fiction and am happy to review it along with the fiction. But I'm not necessarily an expert on the topic you're writing about. If your book requires any technical expertise to be understood, please contact me before you send me a copy, so we can decide if I'd be able to review it or not. |
