The Constitution

Recently, I've been working on a book on Liberty and American Politics called the Free American's Handbook. The book isn't finished yet, but the section on the Constitution is.

And quite frankly, people need to learn about the Constitution. To paraphrase Michael Badnarik: "The Supreme Court wouldn't know the Constitution if you wrapped it around a baseball bat and beat them with it."

So, here's my bit on the Constitution, available free of charge to anyone who doesn't want to wait for me to finish my book.

Note: This is taken directly from the the draft of my book. It's not edited at all for this website. There might be some references to other chapters. Don't look around the website for those--they aren't here. Just ignore them for now and move along with your reading.

Before you begin, you must understand a most important princple: the difference between rights and privileges. Until you have a full grasp of that, none of this will make any sense at all. Michael Badnarik wrote a book on the Constitution called Good to Be King (available here). I agree with ALMOST everything in the book and you should go and buy a copy now. But because Michael, like myself, believes that this is one of the most important concepts, he's made his chapter on the topic available for free.

Read it now by clicking here. Seriously. Even if you think you understand it, we need to make sure we're on the same page before you continue with the rest of what I have to say about the Constitution.

Note: If you don't have a copy of the Constitution at home, I strongly suggest you go get one. They're available at any bookstore. Usually, they're published as small pocket editions (which will also include the Declaration of Independence, sometimes the Articles of Confederation, and sometimes some other facts) and usually cost only three or four dollars. The analysis that follows will not include the Constitution word for word (it includes the most important clauses, with my analysis), so to get the whole thing, you'll have to go elsewhere.
