Dogs on patios in Denver? It must be the end of the world!!A brief common-sense response to political idiots Robert Lewis, September 27, 2007 |

Some people are trying to break free. Others think that's a horrible idea. It might seem a silly issue to most, but it is important. Here's the deal. Colorado law bans animals (with the exception of service animals) at eateries. In other words, if you're having coffee on the patio, Rover can't sit under your table. If you want to talk about health codes, that's one thing. Keeping the dogs out of the kitchen is probably a good idea and might (notice that I only said "might") justify government intervention. But out on the patio? That's just bullshit! And there are some people looking to change things. They think it should be up to each individual business owner whether or not to allow animals at his establishment. And I agree, 100%. Now, don't get me wrong. As much as I love dogs--and I do--I sure as hell don't want to eat with one. But you know what? I just won't go to the place that has dogs on the patio. Or I'll eat inside. Or I'll pick a table far away from the animals. It's not the end of the fucking world! Now, those uptight impotent control freaks think government has a responsibilty to protect them from other people exercising their rights. I can sympathize with someone being uncomfortable around animals. But freedom is more important. Telling a business owner that he can't allow dogs on his own property is a direct violation of his rights, and should never be tolerated. Here's a special IBWT tip for all of you: If you're too sensitive, too stupid, or too much of an asshole to live with freedom, just have yourself locked away. We'll all be happier without you. And while you're busy doing that, the rest of us will be fixing the problems people like you caused. Namely, getting rid of stupid animal bans. People who like dogs can eat at dog friendly establishments. I'll take my business elsewhere. It's as simple as that. Unfortunately, we have to wait until October 11 to find out if government will actually agree with us (you know, thinking people) for once. Good god, there's a lot of stupid shit in politics, isn't there? |
